LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE BOARD

Welcome Young Democrats of Chicago!
For the first time in the history of the Young Democrats of Illinois (YDI), the City of Chicago will be represented by one chapter. One organization that will unite the city instead of dividing us by ward. One organization that will bring together young people from across this incredible city of ours with shared Democratic values so that we may continue to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. One organization to empower young people to get involved and run for office!

This group was started by 11 members of YDI who live and work in Chicago and wanted to build upon the incredible work the Democratic Party of Illinois already does across our state. We are so excited to be working with YDI President Paul Jones as well as DPI Chairwoman Lisa Hernandez as we all work towards several common goals.

The goals of the Young Democrats of Chicago (YDC) are to:

  1. Increase voter registration and electoral participation for young voters in all 50 wards of Chicago

  2. Plan and host programming to educate and engage youth and members of the community around current political and societal events and movements

  3. Volunteer and support local Democratic candidates

  4. Support young people who are running for office in the City of Chicago

With these goals in mind, we would like to welcome all Democrats aged 16-36 to join our group! Please fill out this interest survey to learn more: bit.ly/ydcinterest
